CountryMinded announces three additional election candidates - the result of an independently HR led candidate recruitment process
After a robust and independent candidate recruitment program led by specialist HR agency Pinnacle People Solutions CountryMinded is pleased to announce it will be fielding three additional candidates for the 2016 Federal Election.
Adding to its presence in Queensland, Luke Arbuckle will be the CountryMinded Candidate for Maranoa. Luke will be working with his fellow CountryMinded colleagues and Candidates for the QLD Senate, Peter Mailler and Sherrill Stivano. Luke is currently Operations Manager and Strategic Manager for his families farming enterprise in Bungunya, QLD. He has valuable experience in both small business and in agricultural industry advocacy.
CountryMinded will also be fielding candidates for the NSW Senate with Chris Buckman and CountryMinded co-founder Methuen Morgan stepping up to the plate. Chris Buckman is a business development manager based in Tamworth, NSW. He has significant experience in disability advocacy and a passion for social justice for rural and regional Australia. Methuen Morgan is an environmental psychologist and cattle farmer based in Armidale, NSW. Chris and Methuen join David Mailler our Candidate for the seat of New England in NSW.
These appointments complete our line-up for the 2016 Federal Election.
Our stated objective was to appoint only those candidates who are keen to make a real difference and have the capacity to add to the quality of the political conversation and their community. To support this objective, and in an Australian political first CountryMinded appointed an independent HR agency, Pinnacle People Solutions to manage its recruitment process. Its stated purpose was to ensure a more rigorous and impartial approach to recruitment that would be significantly more likely to deliver political representatives with the skills, characteristics and leadership capacity that meet the expectations of the Australian public. We believe this objective has been achieved.
CountryMinded was founded to bring renewed rigour and vigour to the political voice of rural and regional Australia. Over 85% of the nation’s wealth is generated in regional Australia. However less than 20% of the Australian population is considered regional. As a result, the political system sees a disproportionately small voice for our regional communities. The same communities that are Australia’s most significant contributor to our economy.
Mr Mailler said, “CountryMinded will contest this election, the next and the next. We may be a fledgling political organisation but we are here for the long term to provide a real alternative to the fundamentally flawed two-party system. The successful candidates are all in it for the long haul and we will be working as a team to ensure the voice of regional Australia is heard. Our intent in entering the campaign fray has always been to act as a catalyst for change by changing the conversation and achieving quality political representation for our communities.
